Air Force joins hands with Police to track traffic flow to Colombo
November 26, 2021The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) had launched a joint operation with the Sri Lanka Police to track traffic flow in the Colombo area on Thursday (Nov 25).
According to the SLAF media, a Bell 212 helicopter and drones were used for this purpose.
It was carried out at the Nelum Pokuna Junction, Ayurweda Junction, Diyatha Uyana area, Panchikawatte area, New Kelani Bridge area and the Parliament Junction, it says.
An increase in traffic congestion has been observed with the surge in vehicular movement to the city and suburbs after the lifting of travel restrictions.
The operation was launched under the instructions of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and guidance by SLAF Commander, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, it further says.
