SL wins Fair Play Award at World Military Wrestling Championship
December 01, 2021The Sri Lankan Team made up of Wrestlers from the Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force was adjudged as the winners of the “Fair Play Award” at the recently concluded 35th CISM World Military Wrestling Championship held in Tehran, Iran.
The Sri Lankan Team led by Air Commodore Udula Wijesinga actively participated in all events and secured the award due to their professionalism and technical skills, the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) stated.
The SL team included Corporal Udara Fernando under 61 Kg weight category, Leading Aircraftman Lakmal Wijesuriya under 74 Kg weight category, Leading Aircraftman Nishan Walpita under 92 Kg weight category and Leading Aircraftman Ruwan Kalyana under 125 Kg weight category while Group Captain Erandika Gunawardena and Leading Aircraftman Wijesiri Fernando officiating as the Team Manager and the SLAF Coach respectively, the SLAF also stated.
