EU and UNODC provide Portable Backscatter X-ray Machines to Navy
December 01, 2021Deputy Head of Mission European Union Thorsten Bargfrede and representatives of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) handed over four Portable Backscatter X-ray Machines to the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) yesterday (30 Nov).
Augmenting the Navy’s efforts in curbing smuggling of drugs and other forms of activities, these handheld instruments facilitate the Navy to effectively find concealed narcotics and other contraband, the SLN said.
Navy Commander, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne received the donation at the SLN Headquarters.
Chief of Staff of the Navy, senior officers and a group of representatives of the EU and UNODC were present at this occasion, the SLN also confirmed.
