Army to build houses for two ex-combatant families
December 01, 2021As a part of Sri Lanka Army’s humanitarian assistance for livelihood of the LTTE’s ex-combatants or their families, Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna laid foundation stones for the construction of two more houses for former combatant families at Alvai and Thumpalai in the Jaffna peninsula, reports Army media.
The Army’s initiative will provide shelter to the ex-combatant families of Mrs Tharsan Yogeshwari and Mrs Nirojan Yogam.
Foundation stones for the two houses were laid by Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna Maj. Gen. Jagath Kodithuwakku during two separate ceremonies held recently, it says.
The Army also gifted the children of the beneficiary families with dry ration packs and stationery items. Dry ration packs were also distributed among those present at the occasion, it further says.
The houses will be built by manpower and technical expertise of the Army while a group of old boys of Royal College, Colombo will fund for the raw materials, it states.
