Navy sailors donate blood to Northern hospitals
December 03, 2021Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) had organized a blood donation campaign in the Jaffna peninsula recently (Dec 01).
According to Navy media sources, the campaign organized as a part of its 71st anniversary celebrations was attended by about 287 naval personnel who had volunteered to donate much needed blood to replenish stocks at Northern hospitals.
Acting under the directives of Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and guidance of Commander Northern Naval Area Rear Admiral Priyantha Perera, naval personnel serving in ships and establishments in the Northern Command arrived in their numbers to voluntarily donate blood to the naval base “SLNS Uththara” where the programme was held, it says.
The programme was conducted in keeping with COVID 19 protocols.
