Air Force weightlifters shine at Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2021
December 15, 2021Two Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) weightlifters managed to put the country’s name among the Medal Tally at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2021 held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan recently.
SLAF media reports state, two SLAF weightlifters representing the country managed to win Bronze medals at the international tournament held at the Uzbek capital.
Leading Aircraftman Manoj Wijesinghe competing in the men’s 67kg weight category with a total lift of 254kg won a Bronze medal while female weightlifter Leading Aircraftwoman Nadeeshani Rajapakse competing in the women’s 59kg weight category secured the third place and won her Bronze medal lifting a total of 164kg, it says.
A 20-member contingent of weightlifters was selected by the Sri Lanka Weightlifting Federation (SLWF) in preparation for the Commonwealth Championships and IWF World Championships, it further states.
