SL troops at UNIFIL honoured with medals
December 16, 2021Sri Lankan (SL) contingent in Lebanon was honoured with medals during the Medal Parade of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) recently at its Headquarters in Naqoura for the exemplary dedication of SL troops.
UNIFIL Head of the Mission and the Force Commander Maj. Gen. Stefano Del Col graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest at the invitation of the SL contingent Commander Lt. Col. R.S Batagalla, Army sources said.
HE the Ambassador of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Lebanon and Syria Shani Kalyaneratne Karunaratne, Senior Officers of Lebanon Armed Forces and Senior officials of the UNIFIL were also present at the ceremony.
The Army also stated that a delegation led by Chief of Staff of the SL Army Maj. Gen. Vikum Liyanage who represented the Army Commander also attended the ceremony and UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander extended a warm welcome to the SL delegation on their arrival.
