Rwanda and Kotelawala Defence University sign MOU
December 27, 2021The Republic of Rwanda has renewed a MOU with the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) to admit suitably qualified Rwandan students into KDU’s degree programmes.
According to KDU media, the MOU was initially signed in 2015. The MOU continues to be a significant bilateral instrument for KDU, as it will serve as a springboard for future collaborations with Rwandan universities focused on academic activities and joint research, it says.
The MOU was signed by High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda accredited to Sri Lanka Her Excellency, Jacqueline Mukangira, and KDU Vice Chancellor, Maj. Gen. Milinda Peiris during ceremony at the KDU recently (Dec 23).
Speaking at the ceremony the Rwandan High Commissioner expressed gratitude to the KDU for developing professionals, particularly in the fields of aeronautical engineering and aircraft maintenance engineering, who are now serving in the Rwandan air force and civil aviation sector. She also emphasized the importance of closer and friendlier cooperation between the two countries for mutual benefit, it added.
Honorary Consul of Republic of Rwanda in Sri Lanka His Excellency J.C.E Alles, Honorary Second Counsellor of Republic of Rwanda His Excellency Irakoze Prosper, represented the Government of Rwanda, while the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration), Dean of the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Adjutant, Director International Relations and Deputy Registrar took part in the signing ceremony representing KDU, it said.
