Army grows cashew in 10 acres at Kuttigala
January 07, 2022Sri Lanka Army (SLA) launched a project to plant 700 cashew saplings inside the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) camp compound at Kuttigala joining the ongoing governmental efforts to promote export crops at local level to earn foreign exchange.
210 saplings were planted in an extent of 3 acres during the inaugural phase of the project on the directives of Brig. Palitha Hewawasam, Colonel Commandant, SLAGSC and the SLAGSC will continue planting in 7 more acres within the next few days, the SLA sources stated.
The project patronaged by Sri Lanka Cashew Corporation is supervised by 1 SLAGSC Commanding Officer Lt. Col. C.S Demuni and the Officer Commanding (Kuttigala) Maj. K.D Gorakapitiya, the SLA confirmed.
