Army join hands for dengue control

In a bid to curb the spread of dengue fever within the Western Province troops serving under the Security Force Headquarters - West conducted a special Dengue prevention project covering Gampaha, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kalutara and Matara Districts recently.

The community-oriented project was launched following the reports of health authorities indicating a surge in Dengue-affected patients in aforesaid districts, the Army sources said.

This programme was conducted with about 105 Medical Officers of Health, Public Health Inspectors, state officials and minor employees in addition to over 900 Army personnel drawn from all formations.

General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers have contributed actively to the project following the directives of the Army Commander, the Army also said.
