Troops build houses for needy families in the East

Foundation stone for a new house to be built by Army troops for a deserving family in the East was laid recently (Jan 11). According to Army media, the house is to be constructed by troops under Security Forces HQ – East for a family living in Kandakadu, Welikanda.

Construction will be carried out with technical expertise and manpower support of 9 Field Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery troops of the SFHQ-East with funds provided by Nihal Udugama Suriyage, an expatriate living in Australia, it says.

This social service initiative is carried out under a proposal by the Commander Security Forces - East Major General Lal Chandrasiri, it says.

Meanwhile, another foundation laying ceremony was held at Nikapitiya, Bakamuna area in Polonnaruwa for another house to a needy family.
 
Army media says, the house is to be constructed with the technical and manpower support of 7 Sri Lanka Artillery troops and the same donor providing required funds.
