Special Forces Regiment honoured with President's

New Regimental HQ Office Complex also declared open by President.

His Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena graced the "Rana Parshuwa" Awarding Parade which is awarding the President and Regimental Colors to Sri Lanka Army Special Forces Regiment at the Special Forces Headquarters in Naula Matale, today (16 August 2019).

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence General SHS Kottegoda (Rtd) WWV RWP RSP VSV usp ndu was also present at the ceremony.

The President was accorded a ceremonial Drive Past upon his arrival at the venue in the morning. and then The President paid floral tributes to the War Heroes Memorial in the premises.

The Special Forces Regiment was honored with the "President's Rana Parashuwa" and "Regimental Rana Parashuwa" in recognition of its services during the war against terrorism. The Special Forces played a pivotal role during the Humanitarian Operations which wiped out the scourge of terrorism from the motherland. This is the first time in the history that the "Rana Parshuwa" Award, a symbol of heroism, was presented.

The newly constructed Regimental Headquarters office complex was also ceremonially declared open by the President during the occasion.

Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Tri forces commanders and senior military officers were also present at the occasion.
