SLN’s Volunteer Naval Force Annual Camp concludes
January 21, 2022The Annual Camp of the Sri Lanka Navy’s (SLN) Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) concluded with the inspection of Divisions by the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the SLNS Lanka parade ground in Welisara on Thursday (Jan 20).
The VNF Annual Camp which is conducted to help determine the level of preparedness and professionalism of VNF personnel had commenced on Jan 2.
The final day’s proceeds held yesterday included the inspection of Divisions by the Navy Commander, ceremonial parade and a colouful cultural display, the SLN said.
Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral YN Jayarathne, Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Upul De Silva, Commandant Volunteer Naval Force Rear Admiral Senake Senavirathne, senior naval officers including the Commanding Officer of the Volunteer Naval Force, officers and sailors were also present at the final day’s proceedings held adhering to laid down health guidelines.
The VNF is the main arm of the Sri Lanka Navy in the civilian sphere with Naval Training, vigilant in readiness to provide required assistance in the form of expertise and manpower in times of national urgency and distress.
