KDU enrolls students from UGC
January 21, 2022The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) held its inauguration ceremony for 'Day Scholars' enlisted to the Intake 39 of the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Management, Social Sciences & Humanities at the KDU Auditorium, yesterday (Jan 20).
KDU Vice Chancellor Maj. Gen. Milinda Peiris graced the event as the Chief Guest.
Giving opportunity to civil students KDU has enrolled them under local and foreign categories to study various type of degree programmes.
Accordingly, 87 students through the University Grants Commission (UGC) to study medicine, 108 students to the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences & Humanities and 50 students under the foreign category to study medicine were enrolled, the KDU sources said.
The KDU further stated that it is the first occasion that they had received a batch of students from the UGC to study a degree programme at KDU which is a remarkable achievement.
This initiative is an immense opportunity given to those qualified students to study medicine at a Sri Lankan University without looking for opportunities outside the country, the KDU added.
The event was held adhering to the health guidelines to contain the spread of COVID 19.
The Deputy Vice Chancellors, Deans of the respective faculties, academic and administrative staffers, military officers and parents of the newly enrolled Day Scholars were present at the event.
