Defence Secretary graces the ceremony of title conferment to
Ven. Kolamunne Sumanawansa thero

Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne offered a Vijinipatha (a traditional fan) to the Kolamunne Sri Bimbarama Temple Chief Prelate Ven. Kolamunne Sumanawansa thero during a religious reception held at the Kolamunne Sri Bimbarama Temple premises in Piliyandala today (Jan 23).
The ceremony was organized to confer the elite religious post of ‘Deputy Chief Sanghanayaka of the Galgoda Maha Vihara Chapter’ which also bestows the title of ‘Dharmakeerthi Sri Sumangala’ on Ven. Sumanawansa thero.
Most Venerable Prof. Kotapitiye Rahula Anu Nayake thero presided over the event and Ven. Prof. Medagoda Abhayatissa Nayaka thero conducted the anushasana during the ceremony.
Gen. Gunaratne while speaking at the ceremony also highlighted the praiseworthy contribution and dedicated work of Ven. Sumanawansa thero to the religion and extended compliments for the conferment of a well-deserved post and the new title.
The event saw the presentation of scroll (Sannas Pathraya) by Ven. Maha Sanga and prasada puja with the participation of Minister of Power Hon. Gamini Lokuge, during the session.
