Navy cleans Galle beach
January 24, 2022The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) conducted a cleaning programme in Galle beach area recently.
The SLN regularly conducts beach clean-up in order to prevent plastic and polythene waste entering the ocean.
According to SLN sources, two naval establishments functioning under purview of Southern Naval Command carried out the beach cleaning drive with the assistance of civilians.
Removal of plastic and polythene has restored its usual appearance in the beach areas of Dewata, Galle Fishery Harbour, Galle Fort, Dadella and Gintota estuary, the SLN said.
Much needed programme was carried out adhering to COVID-19 protocols due to pandemic concerns.
