Army-built house vested in a deserving family in Jaffna
January 28, 2022The Sri Lanka Army’s Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna as a part of its community-oriented roles built a new house for an underprivileged family in Alvai, Jaffna and gifted to the family recently.
Troops of the 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under the supervision of the Commander 551 Brigade constructed the house with the financial assistance provided by Colombo Royal College Old Boys of the 1980 Batch (Tamil Medium), the Army sources said.
Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna Maj. Gen. Sujeewa Senarath Yapa during a simple house warming ceremony handed over the keys of the house to the beneficiary Mrs Tharsan Yogeshwari, a disabled mother with three children, the Army said.
Some essential household items, rations and a stock of stationery items were also gifted to the family.
Divisional Secretary for Point Pedro together with the state officials, representatives of the sponsors, senior Army officers and troops also attended the occasion, the Army sources also confirmed.
