Foreign national regains health after treatment at SLN medical facility
January 31, 2022A foreign national was successfully treated for Decompression Sickness by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) recentry. According to SLN media, a German woman was admitted to the Naval Hospital in Trincomalee (Jan 28) after suffering from Decompression Sickness while diving off Hikkaduwa in Galle.
The patient was treated in the dedicated Recompression Chamber at the SLN Command Diving & Salvage Unit in the Eastern Naval Command, under the supervision of the Diving Medical Officer (East), it says.
The recovered German national left the hospital after a nearly 5 hour long treatment in the Recompression Chamber, it adds.
Several people who had suffered from Decompression Sickness have been treated in the SLN’s Recompression Chamber at the Diving and Salvage Unit in Trincomalee in recent times, it says.
