Defence Secretary witnessed Independence Day rehearsals
February 02, 2022Defence Ministry Secretary and Secretary to State Ministry of National Security and Disaster Management Gen. Kamal Gunaratne reviewed the rehearsals of forthcoming Independence Day parade at the Independence Square, Colombo today morning (Feb 2).
Gen. Gunaratne accompanied by Tri-Forces chiefs witnessed the comprehensive flow of the event along with its preparations and carefully reviewed the parading, military formations, armoured vehicles, security, cultural display, seating preparations and healthcare arrangements etc. at the venue.
The Defence Secretary carefully inspected all arrangements in place and issued necessary directions for improvements during a discussions held afterwards.
Secretary, Ministry of Buddhasasana, Cultural and Religious Affairs Prof. Kapila Gunawardene, Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Director General of Civil Security Department Maj. Gen. Ranjan Lamahewage (Retd), Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear Admiral Anura Ekanayake, Director of National Cadet Corps Maj. Gen. PWB Jayasundara (Retd), Heads of state institutions, state officials, organizing committees, and senior military officials were also present.
