Dry ration packs for needy Kilinochchi families

Sri Lanka Army troops in Kilinochchi yet again distributed a stock of dry ration packs to a group of needy families in the region recently. According to Army media, 42 deserving families living in Killinochchi were given dry ration packs at a programme held at the Kannan Church premises during the weekend (Feb 5).

Sponsored by local philanthropists, each pack, worth about Rs. 2750.00 contained rice, dhal, milk powder, tinned food etc, it says.

This social welfare initiative was carried out under the directions of Commander, Security Forces-Mullaittivu Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe and guidelines by Major General Priyantha Jayawardana, General Officer Commanding 57 Division, it says.

Army sources further say that beneficiaries were identified in close consultation with respective Grama Niladari (state officials) of Kilinagar, Ilamanthalaru and Panikkulam Grama Seva Division.
