SLCOMM inaugurates 5th Annual Academic Session
February 11, 2022The inaugural programme of the fifth annual academic session of the Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine (SLCOMM) commenced at the Eagles' Lakeside Banquet and Convention Hall, Attidiya yesterday (Feb 10).
Principal Advisor to the President Lalith Weerathunga graced the occasion as the Chief Guest as well as the Keynote Speaker.
Secretary Ministry of Defence and Secretary to the State Ministry of National Security and Disaster Management Gen. Kamal Gunaratne also graced the event with his presence.
Brigadier Chrisantha Fernando the President of the SLCOMM and acting Director General of Army’s Health Services warmly received the Chief Guest on his arrival at the venue.
Prof. Saroj Jayasinghe, Emeritus Professor of Medicine and Founder Head of the Department of Medical Humanities, University of Colombo was present as the Guest of Honour.
SLCOMM which is working towards excellence in military healthcare delivery had organized the event under the theme of ‘Global Obligations in Military Medicine - Building International Military – Civilian – Synergies.’
Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, members of the SLCOMM, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardana, senior military officers, distinguished invitees and eminent scholars were also present at the occasion.
