KDU collaborates with Turkish Aircraft Industries Corporation
February 14, 2022General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) envisioning to explore the avenues of cooperating in the aeronautical engineering field, conducted the initial round of formal discussion online with the participation of Sri Lankan envoy in Turkey, His Excellency Mohamed Rizvi Hassen today (14 Feb) to establish a collaboration with the Turkish Aircraft Industries Corporation (TAI).
The meeting was organized by the Sri Lankan Mission in Turkey in collaboration with the KDU and TAI on the directive of Defence Ministry Secretary, General Kamal Gunaratne, during his visit to Turkey.
TAI is Turkey's centre of technology in design, development, modernization, manufacturing, integration and life cycle support of integrated aerospace systems, from fixed and rotary wing air platforms to UAVs and satellites.
The company offers products and services in the areas of aerostructures, aircraft, helicopter, UAV systems and space systems as well as programs and logistics solutions.
KDU Vice Chancellor Major General Milinda Peiris presided over the meeting while Prof. Ahmet Pinarbasi, Academic President of TAI, chaired the meeting from their side.
Marketing Director of Asia Region Izzet Aslan, Academia Manager Emre Yilmaz, Engineering Education President Serhat Gul, Chief for Vocational Education Berat Emre Ileri and Vocational Education Expert Humeyra Yolcu represented TAI during the session.
Dean of Research and Development, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Director of the International Relations Office, Head of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, and Senior Lecturers from the Department of Aeronautical Engineering also attended the meeting representing KDU.
