50 new military nurses to begin services at Mil Hospitals

Sri Lanka Army-produced 50 nurses on completion of the three-year long professional Diploma training course in general nursing at Anuradhapura Military Nursing School (MNS) received their caps during the capping ceremony held recently at Anuradhapura Central College Auditorium.

Army Medical Services Director Brig. K.P.N Pathirana graced as the Chief Guest of the ceremony.

Civil student nurses, recruited by the Ministry of Health are trained at Anuradhapura MNS in affiliation with the Government Schools of Nursing, Health Ministry, Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital medical staff and qualified Army Academic Staff for Nursing and Health, the Army sources stated.

The Army said the student nurses after the successful completion of the first year examination, held by the Health Ministry are crowned with the professional cap and they afterwards qualify to take the oath before a distinguished audience.

The MNS was established in the year 2001 and it caters well-qualified and disciplined military nursing officers  under the close supervision of the Health Ministry, Army Training Directorate, Army Training Command (ARTRAC) Headquarters, Army Medical Services Directorate and the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps, the Army further said.

State officials including Regional Director Medical Services Anuradhapura Dr N.C. D Ariyarathna and Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital Director, the MNS Principal, Senior Tri Service Officers, parents and well-wishers of the nursing graduates were present at the capping ceremony adhering to health guidelines.
