Procession with peripheral 28 Buddha Statues left Na Uyana to Anuradhapura today
March 04, 2022The religious procession carrying sacred 28 peripheral Buddha Statues scheduled to be placed at the Sandahiru Seya premises commenced its journey from Melsiripura Na Uyana Aranya Senasana today morning (Mar 4).
The revered 28 Buddha Statues are expected to reach the Sandahiru Seya premises situated in the sacred city of Anuradhapura while passing Dambulla and Mihintale.
The auspicious placing ceremony will be held at the Sandahiru Seya premises tomorrow (Mar 5) from 08.30 a.m. onwards amidst religious blessings of Ven. Maha Sanga under the patronage of Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne. The event will be presided over by Atamasthana Chief Prelate Ven. Dr. Pallegama Siriniwasa Thero.
Gen. Gunaratne speaking at the ceremony organized to commence the religious procession at the Na Uyana Aranya Senasana today, recalled the invaluable contribution extended by Ven. Angulgamuwe Ariyananda thero for the arrangement of Stone-Paved Precincts (Salapathala Maluwa), the Buddha Shrine and the offering the 28 revered Buddha Statues.
The Sandahiru Seya Buddha Shrine composed of diversely postured five Buddha Statues embedded sacred relics will also be vested on devotees for veneration on the same day, Gen Gunaratne added during the session mentioning the unveiling of Buddha Statues.
Defence Ministry's Seva Vanitha Unit (MODSVU) Chairperson Chithrani Gunaratne and devotees were present at the occasion.
