Defence Secretary graces Pakistan’s 81st National Day celebration
March 30, 2022High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Sri Lanka celebrated the 81st National Day of Pakistan at the Shangri La Hotel, Colombo under the patronage of Pakistan’s envoy in Colombo, Maj. Gen. (Retd) Umar Farooq Burki, last evening (Mar 29).
Trade Minister Hon. Bandula Gunawardene graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest and Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne was also present at the event.
Pakistan’s HC recalled the cherished long existing bilateral ties between the two countries indicating the high level visits and exchanges while addressing the distinguished gathering.
The glamorous event saw cake cutting while commemorating the Pakistan’s National Day by Speaker of the Parliament Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Chief Guest Minister Gunawardene, Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Gen. Gunaratne and the Pakistan’s High Commissioner along with few other invitees.
Speaker of the Parliament, Ministers, Parliamentarians, members of the diplomatic corps, Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva, Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana and distinguished invitees were present at the event.
