SLCG seizes a haul of 66.6 kg cannabis in Northern waters
March 31, 2022Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) seized 66.6 kg of Kerala cannabis in the Northern Sri Lankan seas and nabbed three suspects along with a dinghy today (Mar 31).
SLCG’s Fast Patrol Boat was employed in the operation at 12 nautical miles North of Kovilam Light, the SLCG sources stated.
The consignment stuffed in 02 gunny sacks each containing 15 packets is believed to be over Rs. 12 million, the SLCG also said.
The suspects between 20 to 24 years old were identified as the residents of Madagal West and Mullaitivu areas.
The consignment of cannabis, the dinghy and the suspects will be handed over to Ilavalai Police, Madagal for onward legal action, the SLCG added.
