SL Navy troops bust another drug smuggling attempt
April 12, 2022Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) troops while on a patrol in seas off the Delft Island in the Northern region apprehended about 01kg of Crystal Methamphetamine (ICE) along with 03 suspects on Monday morning (Apr 11).
According SL Navy media, an Inshore Patrol Craft (IPC) attached to SLNS Wasaba in the Northern Naval Command had detected a suspicious dinghy in seas off the Delft Island and recovered the illegal substance and the suspects.
The gross street value of the confiscated Crystal Methamphetamine is believed to be around Rs. 08 million. The suspects aged between 26 to 36 years have been identified as residents of Pooneryn and Mannar areas, it says. The suspects along with the confiscated drugs and their dinghy will be handed over to the Delft Police for onward legal proceedings, it further says.
