INS ‘Gharial’ arrives in Colombo
April 30, 2022Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) welcomed the visiting ship INS ‘Gharial’, a Landing Ship Tank of the Indian Navy at the Port of Colombo, in keeping with naval traditions, yesterday (29).
The SLN sources said, the crew members of INS ‘Gharial’ are expected to take part in several programmes organized by the Sri Lanka Navy, with a view to enhance camaraderie between two navies during her stay.
The 124.8m long Landing Ship Tank is commanded by Commander Sunil S Patil and the ship is manned by 170 as the ship’s complement.
The SLN also said the ship has carried a consignment of medical aid despatched from India.
The Commanding Officer of INS ‘Gharial’ called on Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander Western Naval Area Rear Admiral Upul De Silva at the Western Naval Command last evening.
It is scheduled to depart the island on May 01, 2022, the SLN added.
