Army to build house for another ex-combatant
May 05, 2022Sri Lanka Army troops in Jaffna laid foundation for a new house for an ex-combatant recently. According to Army media, the 551 Brigade troops of the 55 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna laid the foundation stone for the construction of the proposed house for the ex-combatant beneficiary living in Puloly, Point Pedro.
The project is being carried out with the blessings of Commander, SF-J Major General Senarath Yapa with the 16 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops undertaking the construction of the house with a private donor providing required funds, it says.
The initiative to build a house for the ex-combatants, Mrs. Thangarasa Dharmarani and Mr. Kumarakulasingam Prashanthan was taken up by army authorities after learning about their penurious state of life, it says.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was held conforming to Hindu religious rites with the participation of Brigadier Chinthaka Wikramasinghe, Commander 551 Infantry Brigade, police officers and family members of the beneficiary.
