Military personnel donate blood for the needy patients
May 18, 2022Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) and Sri Lanka Army troops (SLA) have organized a series of blood donation campaigns as part of their community service projects.
Accordingly, the SLN’s Eastern and the Southern Naval Commands recently organized blood donation campaigns on the directives of the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne to mark the 2566th Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi and a large group of naval personnel donated blood during these campaigns, the SLN sources stated.
The blood donation campaigns of the Eastern Naval Command held at the Preschool of SLNS Tissa and the Southern Naval Command held at SLNS Dakshina greatly helped to replenish blood stocks of Trincomalee District General Hospital and Hambantota General Hospital, the SLN confirmed.
Meanwhile, the SLA troops during a blood donation campaign held recently at Shivananda College auditorium in Kallady donated blood for the patients of the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, the SLA sources said.
Accordingly, the troops of the 23 Division of the Security Force Headquarters – East and 11 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment joined by a group of civilians in the area donated blood during this campaign organized under the directions of General Officer Commanding, 23 Division, Maj. Gen. Shewanth Kulathunga, SLA sources confirmed.
