Using the ability to save a life
June 18, 2022- The gift of blood is the gift of life.
Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) organized a series of blood donation campaigns covering all Naval Commands on June 16 following the directives of the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.
Accordingly, nine blood donation drives were organized in seven naval commands the SLN said indicating the objective of these events which was to replenish much needed blood stocks for blood banks of several hospitals across the island.
These magnanimous efforts were carried out under the supervision of respective Area Commanders, in coordination with respective blood banks, the SLN further said.
SLN sources said this noble cause was organized in parallel with the 2566th Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi programme.
The donation campaigns were well supported by the Navy's medical staff and a large number of sailors from all Naval commands donated their blood voluntarily, making this timely effort a total success.
