SLN clears debris clogged in Deduru Oya
June 27, 2022Responding to a request of the Department of Irrigation in Puttalam, the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) cleared debris clogged in Deduru Oya close to Anavilundawa area in Puttalam recently.
The debris had prevented the gravity water flow restricting water to regional cultivation, the SLN said.
The timely response not only delivered water to regional cultivation (‘Pahina' Bay area of Anavilundawa), but also lessened the risk of floods in low lying areas, the SLN added.
The Command Diving Unit of the North-Western Naval Area undertook the task under the guidance of Commander North-Western Naval Area Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva.
