Navy seizes a haul of cannabis
July 06, 2022Sri Lanka Navy troops managed to seize a haul of cannabis in a special operation in Norachcholai today (6 Jul). According to SL Navy media, about 212 kg of Kerala cannabis was seized by naval troops while being transferred in a van. The Navy also arrested a suspect during the operation.
Troops attached to SLNS Thambapanni in the Northwestern Naval Command along with the Norochcholai Police recovered the cannabis while searching a suspicious van at the Karamba roadblock in Norochcholai this morning. The cannabis found in 97 packets stuffed in 10 sacks is believed to be worth over Rs. 63 million in street value the navy said.
The apprehended cannabis along with the suspect and the van was handed over to the Norachcholai police, the navy said.
