Defence Secretary appreciates service of departing Japanese Defence Advisor

Captain Gaku Fukaura, Defence/Security Advisor of the Japanese Embassy in Colombo who will be completing his tenure in due course, made a farewell call on the Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne at the Defence Ministry, today (July 07).

The Defence Secretary warmly received Captain Fukaura, and Captain YUUKI Yokohari, the incoming Defence/Security Advisor who will be taking over the post in the Embassy, on their arrival.

During the cordial meeting, Captain Fukaura expressed his gratitude to the Defence Secretary for the cooperation extended by the Defence Ministry, during his tenure.

Meanwhile, recalling the long-standing relationship and cherished bilateral ties between the two countries, Gen. Gunaratne praised the outgoing Defence/Security Advisor of Japanese Embassy Captain Fukaura for his close cooperation with the Sri Lankan Defence Ministry and the Security Forces Headquarters.

Defence Secretary also extended his wishes to the outgoing Japanese Defence/Security Advisor for a prosperous future in his military career during the meeting.

Discussion also continued welcoming the new Defence/Security Advisor Captain Yokohari, at the cordial dialogue had with Gen. Gunaratne.

Mementos were exchanged between the Defence Secretary and the two visiting Defence Officials of the Japanese Embassy as a token of appreciation and to mark the occasion ensuing the cordial meeting held this morning.

Military Liaison Officer Maj. Gen. Dinesh Nanayakkara was also present at the occasion.
