Acting President Wickremesinghe visits Army Hospital to see injured soldiers
July 15, 2022The Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe today (15 Jul) visited the Army Hospitals at Narahenpita, Colombo and inquired into the health of the Sri Lanka Army personnel who had sustained serious injuries after being brutally assaulted by a group of protestors on Wednesday (13) while on duty near the Parliament complex in Battaramulla.
Acting President Wickremesinghe took time off to inquire into the well-being of the soldiers receiving treatment at the hospice while sharing thoughts with them during his visit. He praised their commitment to duty in ensuring security of the Parliament complex.
He also instructed the Army Commander Lt. Gen. Vikum Liyanage and Army Director General of Health Services Brigadier Krishantha Fernando to take all necessary action to provide the best medical attention and required welfare measures for these soldiers.
Incidentally the Acting President Wickremesinghe made his first visit to the Army Hospital after being sworn in as the Acting President this morning.
Army Commander and Senior military officers at the Army Hospital were present during the Acting President’s visit there.
