Sri Lankan and Indian Coast Guards hold High Level Meeting in New Delhi
August 27, 2019The 4th annual High Level Meeting (HLM) between the Sri Lankan Coast Guard (SLCG) and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) was held in India, recently. According to SLCG media, the HLM was held at the Indian Coast Guard Headquarters in New Delhi on 20th August (2019).
The Director General of SLCG, Rear Admiral GDAS Wimalathunge led the Sri Lankan side while the Chief of the ICG, Director General K Natarajan led the Indian delegation.
A range of issues including fishing activities, security, capacity building, cooperation, sharing of information, and participation in bi/multi-lateral exercises were taken up for discussion at the meeting.
The two Coast Guards also entered into a MoU on ‘The Establishment of Collaborative Relationship to Combat Transnational Illegal Activities at Sea and Develop Regional Cooperation between SLCG & ICG’ during the meeting.
