August 18, 2022Those projects included the construction of a two-storied new building at the University of Rajarata plus an 800 m-long drain system, a new two-storied pavilion building for Kalutara Walalavita Public Ground, a new one-storied building at Anuradhapura Central College and its 800m-long drain system and the complete renovation of a dilapidated school building at Poddeniyakanda Vidyalaya in Kegalle.
Successive Chief Field Engineers and the incumbent Chief Field Engineer of the Army, Major General Mahinda Jayawardena closely supervised those projects and coordinated with government agencies for necessary funds and other administrative matters.
The Army, being an active contributor to the government-assigned construction and renovation projects thus saved a large sum of expenditure for the government. Providing engineering and technical expertise of the Army, troops succeeded in completing the projects ahead of the deadlines, that were set by respective state agencies.
