A news item on the 7.00 pm news on Sirasa TV on 12th July, 2019 reports of the arrival of a Mc Donald Douglas ll cargo aircraft belonging to the Western Global Airline, America at the Bandaranaike International Airport at around 0350 hrs on 11th July, 2019.
It has been observed that the news reported under that topic might distort the actual facts and mislead the general public. Upon inquiry from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in this regard, the following facts were revealed.
The Mc Donald Douglas ll is a cargo aircraft and had arrived to Sri Lanka with prior permission after following relevant procedures. All information including details of the crew has been provided to the CAA. It is on a scheduled flight path and had arrived at the BIA for replenishment purposes. Further, the aircraft has departed from BIA to Fujaira International Airport at 0737 am on 13th July, 2019.
