Army troops join relief operations in Kaduwela area
September 09, 2022Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops placed hundreds of sandbags on both sides of the Kelani river banks in the Bomiriya area in Kaduwela recently and prevented a major flood catastrophe.
The SLA sources said, the 2 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regiment troops of the Security Force Headquarters-West carried out the operations under the directions of Commander, Security Forces -West Maj. Gen. Deepal Pussella.
Meanwhile, troops of the 8 SLLI, using Army boats, buses, and manpower, assisted flood-affected students in the Malwana area to attend schools as many of them remained stranded being unable to move out in the gushing waters.
