SL Army athlete sets new record in Pole Vault
September 22, 2022A Sri Lanka Army (SLA) sportsman has established a new Sri Lankan record in Pole Vault. According to SLA media Private K Puvitharan of 2 Sri Lanka Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) completing a 5m and 15cm high jump at the selections for the Asian Athletic Meet - 2023 set the new record.
Selections for the Asian meet were held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa playground in Diyagama from 17 to 19 this month (Sep).
A keen Army athlete, Puvitharan had won two gold medals in Pole Vault at the National Junior Sports Festival and National School Sports Festival. He had also won gold at the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Sports Meet, it says.
