SL Army and Navy assist fire brigade to douse major fire in Colombo
September 28, 2022Sri Lanka Army and Navy troops joined in with the city fire brigade to control a major fire at Kajeemawatte in Thotalanga, Colombo 15.
According to SLA media, troops under 7 Gemunu Watch troops under command to the 142 Brigade of the 14 Division of the Security Force HQ-West rushed to the location in Thotalanga, Grandpass upon the directions of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage last evening (27 Sep).
Army troops in their hundreds assisted the fire brigade to bring the fire under control which had affected a line of houses, it says.
Meanwhile navy had dispatched two of its firefighting teams to assist the firefighting efforts last evening. According to Navy media, immediate measures were taken to send required assistance on directives by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.
