Coast Guard lifesavers rescued a Russian couple

October 31, 2022

Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) lifesavers on duty at Mirissa beach had rescued a drowning foreign couple at sea during a successful rescue mission conducted on Oct 29.

Reportedly a male and female aged 23 and 20 years who had arrived in Sri Lanka from Russia were having a sea bath at the popular Mirissa beach when they were dragged away by sea waves.

Quick action by the SLCG lifesavers saved the lives of the two drowning foreigners despite the rough sea conditions that prevailed in the area.

Further SLCG reports say that their lifesavers have rescued a total of 1,770 lives thus far including those of 762 foreigners in successful rescue attempts.
