Rainy weather predicted over most parts of the island

The Met. Dept. has predicted showers or thundershowers in the afternoon or night in places over most parts of the island.

The latest weather forecast issued by the Meteorology  Department today (04 Nov) predicts rains in the Northern, North-Western and Western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the morning as well.  Heavy showers of about 100mm can be expected at some places in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Puttalam district.

Sea areas around the island may also experience rain and winds will be south-westerly or variable in direction. Wind speed may increase up to 40 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota, it says.

The sea areas off the coast from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be rough at times.

The general public and the fishing community are advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by weather related incidents.
