9th "Colombo Defence Seminar" concludes on a successful note

The 9th ‘Colombo Defence Seminar - 2019’, international conference which began on Thursday (29) at the BMICH, ended on a successful note on Friday (30). The two-day conference is the Sri Lanka Army’s flagship annual defence symposium and this year it was held for the ninth consecutive year.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by the President Maithripala Sirisena. 

Secretary Defence, General SHS Kottegoda WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc delivered the opening remarks.

This year the discussions were based around the theme, ‘Evolving Military Excellence in the Contemporary Security Landscape’. 
 The international seminar was successfully held under the close supervision of Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.

This time the conference saw a local and international participation of nearly 800 armed forces representatives, scholars, intellectuals, experts and other distinguished invitees.

The conference provided a unique platform with nine sessions spread over two days for productive intellectual deliberations on thematic topics  between professionals in the defence and related fields. 

Secretary to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ravinatha Aryasinha,   made the valadictory address
