Coast Guard educates Northern public on safety issues

A series of Life Saving Awareness programmes was conducted by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard at several areas in Jaffna, last week. These programmes were conducted under the directives of the Presidential Secretariat Office under the ‘Rata Wenuwen Ekata Sitimu’ Jaffna district programme, states Coast Guard media.

These public awareness programmes, conducted by the Mobile Training Team of the Coast Guard Life Saving School were carried out at Veththalakeni, Point Pedro, Karainagar, Kayts and Delft areas from on 24th, 25th, 26th, 28th and 29th, last month (August).

More than 350 people were benefitted by these workshops which were conducted with the aim of educating coastal communities on water safety, drowning prevention and first aid.

Representatives of the Presidential Secretariat, local government body, Divisional Secretariat and other governmental officials were also present at these workshops.
