‘Udarai Oba’ to raise funds for War Hero welfare project
September 03, 2019‘Udarai Oba’, a musical extravaganza featuring a host of eminent local artists will be held at the Nelum Pokuna theatre at 06.30 pm on the 14th of this month (September 2019). Organized by the Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) of the Ministry of Defence, the programme is aimed at raising funds for the establishment of a Vocational Training Centre (VTC) for Tri Forces, police and Civil Security Department personnel and their family members.
This project is being carried out under a concept of the Chairperson of the MoD SVU, Mrs. Sonia Kottegoda who has taken a special interest to provide an impetus to uplift the living standards of the War Heroes and their families.
The proposed Vocational Training Centre will provide professional training in Hospitality Management, language and Information Technology.
A number of corporate sponsors have volunteered to support this initiative.
