State Minister Wijewardene launches SLBC new mobile ‘app’

Ruwan Wijewardene graced the launching ceremony of a new ‘app’ of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), last evening (05th September). This is a milestone event of the pioneer national broadcasting service’s nine-decade long history.
The new ‘app’ enables listeners the world over to tune into to SLBC’s prime channels, in all three languages on their mobile devices.
Gracing the ceremony as the Chief Guest, the State Minister officially launched the mobile ‘app’ thereby turning a new leaf in the annals of radio broadcasting in the country. He unveiled a plaque at the ‘Kumaratunga Studio’ symbolically announcing the launch of the new ‘app’.
Speaking at the ceremony, the State Minister Wijewardene, appreciated the SLBC’s initiative to come up with such an ‘app’ by acquiring modern technological advancements. He said that the ‘Corporation’ has rendered a great service to the nation throughout its nine-decade long history and the adopting of new technology is essential to compete with emerging trends. He also expressed his gratitude to all those involved with the development and launching of the new ‘app’.
Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media, Mr. Sunil Samaraweera, Director General of the Government Information Department, Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewa, SLBC officials including the Chairman, Mr. Malaka Talwatte, Director General, Mr. Erananda Hettiarachchi, Working Director, Mr. Heral Senadeera, sponsor representatives, senior Corporation officials, popular artistes and special invitees were also present at the occasion.
