Annual Feast of National Shrine of Our Lady in Matara held with naval assistance

The annual feast of the National Shrine of Our Lady in Matara, was held from 06th to 08th (September) with the participation of a large gathering of Catholic devotees. Sri Lanka Navy troops had rendered assistance to successfully conduct this Catholic religious ceremony, states Navy media.

Navy troops has also rendered assistance to take the idol of Our Lady in procession in the street. A large number of local and foreign Catholic devotees were present at the occasion.

Navy’s assistance in conducting this religious event had come under praise by religious dignitaries including the Bishop of Galle, Rt. Rev. Raymond Wickramasinghe and the lay devotees.
