Secretary visits Bangladesh Navy ship

The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General SHS Kottegoda (Retd) WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc made a visit to the visiting Bangladesh Navy ship 'Somudra Avijan' on yesterday evening (09 September). Making a four day goodwill visit, the Bangladesh Navy ship arrived in Colombo on Saturday (07 September).

Secretary was received by the Commanding Officer of the ship Commander Zahirul Haque upon his arrival. During the occasion the Secretary was accompanied by Bangladeshi Naval Officers on a guided tour of the ship and subsequently had cordial discussions with them. Commanding Officer of the ship Commander Zahirul Haque presented a memento to Secretary to mark the occasion.

Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Defence Adviser of Bangladesh HC Commodore Syed Maksumul Hakim, Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal de Silva, Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Sumangala Dias, former Commanders, members of the diplomatic corps and senior naval officers were also present at the occasion.

The Bangladesh Navy ship is scheduled to leave the island on Tuesday (10 September).
