KDU International Research Conference begins today
September 11, 2019The 12th International Research Conference (IRC) of the Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) commenced at the KDU auditorium in Ratmalana, today (11 September). Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General SHS Kottegoda (Retd) WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc graced the opening session of the two-day conference as the chief guest, this morning. The Secretary was received by the Vice Chancellor of the KDU Air vice Marshal Sagara Kotakadeniya upon his arrival at the KDU.
The conference is a world class forum that brings professionals and researchers of various disciplines to a common platform to disseminate their valuable research findings. This year the conclave is being held on 11 and 12 September under the theme "Challenges to Humankind in the face of new Technologies". The Conference will feature pre-conference workshops, plenary sessions, poster presentations and technical sessions of nine disciplines including Defence and Strategic Studies, Law, Management, Social Sciences and Humanities, Built Environment and Spatial Sciences, Computing, Engineering, Medicine, Basic and Applied Sciences, and Allied Health Sciences.
Making the Opening Remarks the Secretary Defence said, the knowledge that going to unearth and share during this conference would be of immense benefit not only to the academic community but to the entire humankind to make their lives better. Conferences of this nature are instrumental in clearing our fog of mind for better counter measures further added the Secretary. Finally Secretary appreciate and congratulated Vice Chancellor and the organizers of General Sir John Kotelawala University's International Research Conference for selecting a timely and a pertinent theme.
